Why I drew it...

I was looking for Disney stuff to entertain my wee Disney princess loving neice. I recalled seeing some Disney Mermaids kicking about dA here and I remembered the name of the artist. So I innocently went to the search bar and typed "loish mermaids" -- only to discover the vast two pages of different versions of the same lineart! Actually, some of the other versions I've come across since then don't show up when you search like that.

Then I was talking about it with my friend ~Zocko and I had the brilliant idea of doing some Disney dudes as mermaids! ...ssmen..

She wanted Jim Hawkins in there. So there he is on the right. Then Tarzan, Shang (from Mulan), Phoebus (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Hercules, and my personal studmuffin Emperor Kuzco(Emperor's New Groove)!!

Originally I wanted to have Beast or Milo (Atlantis) in there, but I limited myself to six to match miss *loish's lineart, especially since it's meant to be a spoof of her spoof.

I avoided the princes to match the princesses, hence the lack of Aladdin (and again, Beast). But I took Shang and Phoebus -- they are some of my favourite characters, and Phoebus is so overlooked for the obviously cooler Clopin (the tertiary character jester guy from Hunchback) even though their girlfriends are more important to the story. That's why the two of them are in the back (that, and they have roughly similar builds).

Then I wondered if I should have the two pointy chin dudes (that's Tarzan and Kuzco) on the same side, but went instead for the well-matched, skinny-muscled, skater dudes on the right (Jim and Tarzan) and the contrasting and stylized dudes on the left (Kuzco and Herc).

Which brings up my last point here. *loish drew all the princesses in her own lovely style, I however added very little of my own style and made them as Disney-like as possible. That was on purpose. I liked the contrast. That and I had a hard time recognizing Aurora in *loish's version. I love Sleeping Beauty's pointy-ness. *loish did a great job, I just missed the stylization!

If you'd rather do only one dude, lemme know. I'll totally post the one guy in my scraps (I drew them all separate to begin with).

If there are two of you who want to collabe-colour it (one on chara's the other on background or something) make sure you say so in your comment. If you use brushes, textures (there's a great maid-version with Snow White in a plaid fin), stock, or other stuff that didn't come free with the program or that you got from somewhere else (not your own photos or whatever) make sure you say so in your comment! These art games are fun, but there have been dipwads in the past who turn these things into nightmares by being art theives--don't be one of them!

Printer paper -- it's easily scanned and moved around, unlike sketchbooks. Unfortunately it bleeds more... unclean lines...
Uniball fine tip Vision pens (wish I had some micro tips too, would've been useful), some regular HB pencil for the rough sketches (now erased), eraser.
Scanned, PSP7 cleaned. Maybe someday I'll fix it so the lines are clean and beautiful like *loish's, but for now you can suffer.

**EDIT: Okay, so the 'someday' when I fix the lines turned out to be later today. I'm weird. Clean blue lines. Yay!**
